Ready-made systems
- Usually inflexible and are not an exact fit
- Tail wagging the dog: You have to change to fit the system
- Not always user friendly, often cumbersome
- Staff have to be trained to use
- New staff cannot be work ready on day one
- Implementation is usually 5 times the cost of the system
In-House Systems
- Requires an architect and a tech team
- Costly to setup and maintain
- Every organisation has to reinvent the wheel for themselves
- Slow turnaround times, difficult to make changes
- Significant key-man risk
